about

This is really a mons/ter release :
a 4 CDR box set that comes with a little book, the lyrics, a poster and other schnick schnack.

It was released in winter 2001 / 2002 on "Save our sperms".

It is a collection of songs that we recorded over the previous years
( from 1994 - 2001 ) in our little Interspace home studio on 4-track. But we really didn't know what to do with them so we collect them all together in the end for this special release. Some of these tracks were later re-recorded and released on other releases.

In detail the box-set consists of :

1.
A little book ( 234 pages ) which is called "Ein Bündel abgelaufener Jahre" who has its own catalogue number – SOS 15 – with a lot of s/tories about s/t and other s/tupid s/tuff. Hold together by 2 M5 bolts.

2.
The first CDR – SOS 16 – is called "Gefällige Nebenwerke" ( tracks 01 to 08 ).
Track 01 was originally a hidden bonus track before the first track on the original release. You had to rewind the CD to listen to this track,
so it was originally track number "0".

3.
The second CDR – SOS 17 – is called "Psychedelic hogwash"
( tracks 09 to 16 ).

4.
The third CDR – SOS 18 – is called "Klingendes Tonkompost"
( tracks 17 to 24 )

5.
The fourth CDR – SOS 19 – is called "Psybertronic zoom tonic"
( tracks 25 to 31 ).

The Broken Face wrote in # 14 :
There are records and there is passion. When it comes to this limited release the indisputable passion that comes along with it is so overwhelming that it'll leave you with your mouth wide open.

What we get is a box set from German Krautrock explorers s/t that contains 4 CRD's, a 200 page book, posters and a lyrics booklet. Everything is handmade and deliciously designed and packaged. If the stunnng packaging is intended to disarm any kind of criticism I can only say that they've succeeded. How can one possibly not enjoy a release like this ?

Fortunately for my journalistic reliability ( if I ever had any in the first place ) the music is over the top as well. Each of the four discs is a carefully crafed work of aural transcendance and mind expansion where s/t presents ther own brooding modern interpretation of every Krautrockesque soundscape you can imagine. From repetive grooves spiced with bizarre samples, meditative synth lines and hypnotic guitars to layered electronic clouds and overdriven guitar freak-outs. And in-between they cross expansive walls of drone hypnotism and swirling feedback to take the listener over calm waters and then lift them higher into the atmosphere, riding inside the jet stream. Synth, guitars and keyboards figure in heavenly on these discs, but there's also plenty of vocals, bass, loops, samples and various other instruments to make up these loose recordings that somehow generate a sense of impending destruction that only adds to the beauty of what these guys pull off. This stuff can occasionally get a bit monotonous over nearly 275 minutes, but considering the packaging and the overall sonic qualities it's a great deal for those who search for space, psych and kraut.

about

s/t Frankfurt, Germany

Congratulations for finding this page : the wonderful little world of s/t. We think it's a brilliant name for a band but impossible to google ( try bandcamp search ). Horse Badorties and Mr. Miller are the members of s/t and they have released a lot of stuff over the years, and most of these releases you will find here in the near future ... when you come back ... hopefully. And now enjoy! ... more
